Curious about the faces behind Flinthills Services? Meet our administrative staff! These employees are responsible for organizational structure and carry out the administrative and strategic operations of our non-profit organization. They are the “wind beneath the wings” of our wonderful – and critically important – Direct Support Professionals who provide round-the-clock care to our clients.

Our Administrative Team

Kathy Walter


I have served as the Executive Director since 2011. I hold a BS. Ed. From the University of Kansas and a MS. Ed. From Drake University. My career has been dedicated to working with persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and mental illness. It is my privilege to be a part of Flinthills Services where we are committed to help each person we serve live life with dignity and purpose.

Emily Doyon


I joined Flinthills Services in 2020 with 25 years of experience in accounting. I have a bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University and I am a certified public accountant. I am excited to work within an organization that makes a daily difference in the lives of the individuals it serves.

Amy Peterson


I started my career with Flinthills Services in 1996 in direct care where I fell in love with the organization and the individuals we serve. I have held a variety of positions over the years and I am currently the Director of Client Services. I have my BSBA from Capella University and am currently working towards my master’s degree. I’m very passionate about the services we provide, and have dedicated my career to ensuring the clients receive the highest level of support and commitment.

Mark Barber


I started working at Flinthills Services in 2007 as the Training Coordinator and quality assurance director, then in 2015 I became the Director of Targeted Case Management. I love working at Flinthills and strive to ensure everyone has the opportunity for choice and the ability to achieve their dreams.

Lela Day


I joined Flinthills Services in 2020 as their registered nurse. I started my nursing career as a CNA and worked my way up, obtaining my bachelor’s degree in 2015. I have experience in emergency care, public community health, long term care and mds. I enjoy each and every single one of our clients, and I am dedicated to advocating for the highest quality of life and care for them.

Brian Larson


I have been the maintenance coordinator at Flinthills Services since 2013. I maintain and upkeep all Flinthills properties that we own or lease as well as our fleet of 19 vehicles. I strive to keep our properties and vehicles safe and reliable for the use of our clients for their daily needs.

Rachel Hughes


While attending Emporia State University where I got my Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology, I had begun an internship with Flinthills Services, later accepting a job in direct care. After I received my degree, I began my professional career as the Training and Safety Coordinator. I now have the opportunity to have a big impact on the Direct Care Professionals so they in turn can empower the individuals they serve.

Loagan Simpson


I began my career in direct care in 2012 for Flinthills Services working one-on-one with clients. In 2015, I was promoted to office specialist, and shortly thereafter I was given the position of Executive Assistant. I work closely with all employees in the role of human resources to ensure continued success in providing an elevated level of service, focusing on the individuality of our clients.
